Seven yachts, including at least one superyacht, the 31.5 metre Gioe, as well as an older model Admiral in the 30 metre region, were destroyed in a raging fire last friday in Alimos Marina in Greece. A local newspaper reports that the fire is being treated as arson by police. No injuries were reported. Read More

The 50 metre project P305 was launched a few years ago at Devonport, but the yacht went back into the yard to be completed. This rare video of her was made last summer, and shows the yacht is once again back out on the water. The yacht is named Alamshar, and she is a top secret project. One of our regular readers sent us a photo of a rather unusual superyacht seen in Porto Arabia – The Pearl, Qatar last week. The superyacht is called Shamek and she was converted from a traditional wooden dhow into a luxury motor yacht. It appears that the yacht was converted at the Al Jadaf Drydock in Dubai around 2005. One of the most rarely seen superyachts is the 77.33 metre Pag-Asa, the Philippine presidential yacht. The motor yacht was built by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries in Tokyo, Japan in 1959 as Lapu-Lapu. Throughout her life the superyacht has served several different presidents and before being named Pag-Asa in 2009. Read More

Earlier this week, motoryacht Final Act burned and sank off the coast of Hilton Head Island. According to eyewitnesses it only took about 2-3 minutes before the entire boat was ablaze. Luckily a passing yacht rescued all people on board, as well as 2 dogs. Read More

According to local news sources, the 38.10 metre Chistensen superyacht SunChaser was destroyed by a fire during refit work, being carried out at the shipyard Boustead Yachts in Langkawi (BYL) in Bukit Malut. 53 Firefighters were on site after an emergency call came in at around 8 pm on the 11th of October. On August 8th, a fire broke out on superyacht Godspeed, off the coast of Santa Teresa di Riva, a small town in the province of Messina, Sicily, about 15 kilometers (9 miles) from Taormina. Godspeed is a 2005 Westport 130. Details are still unknown, but the video's show that the yacht can be considered a total-loss. Read More

Last week, superyacht Antalis narrowly escaped disaster in Greece, and we now receive news about another narrow miss, this time in the US. A Superyacht hit a rock some 100 metres off Nobska Beach near Woods Hole, Mass., on friday. Superyacht Antalis narrowly escaped disaster in the Bay of Aegiali on July 3rd, 2011 in the late afternoon. The vessel was anchored close to Levrossos beach, when she took on water through her stern doors, causing the yacht to list heavily to port. Last year, whilst on charter in Turkey, I cruised passed an unknown yacht near Göcek. The yacht's name, Sureyya, did not appear in any of our files, and the design did not look familiar. After lengthy investigation, we now strongly believe the yacht is the former Acajou, which was badly damaged in 2005, during a heavy storm in Greece. Read More

At around 04:30 saturday morning, strong winds caused Pari to drag anchor off Cap Ferrat, pushing her up against the rocks. Eight people were on the yacht when the incident occured, seven of them have been rescued off the yacht by French authorities.
