One of the most rarely seen superyachts is the 77.33 metre Pag-Asa, the Philippine presidential yacht. The motor yacht was built by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries in Tokyo, Japan in 1959 as Lapu-Lapu. According to local news sources, the 38.10 metre Chistensen superyacht SunChaser was destroyed by a fire during refit work, being carried out at the shipyard Boustead Yachts in Langkawi (BYL) in Bukit Malut. 53 Firefighters were on site after an emergency call came in at around 8 pm on the 11th of October. On August 8th, a fire broke out on superyacht Godspeed, off the coast of Santa Teresa di Riva, a small town in the province of Messina, Sicily, about 15 kilometers (9 miles) from Taormina. Godspeed is a 2005 Westport 130. Details are still unknown, but the video's show that the yacht can be considered a total-loss. Read More

A Superyacht hit a rock some 100 metres off Nobska Beach near Woods Hole, Mass., on friday. Superyacht Antalis narrowly escaped disaster in the Bay of Aegiali on July 3rd, 2011 in the late afternoon. The vessel was anchored close to Levrossos beach, when she took on water through her stern doors, causing the yacht to list heavily to port. Last year, whilst on charter in Turkey, I cruised passed an unknown yacht near Göcek. The yacht's name, Sureyya, did not appear in any of our files, and the design did not look familiar. After lengthy investigation, we now strongly believe the yacht is the former Acajou, which was badly damaged in 2005, during a heavy storm in Greece. Read More
