Seaskin offers world's first colour-matched Protectapeel (SS)

Following news of its exclusive Protectapeel deal with Spraylat, Barcelona-based SeaSkin International has just revealed the world’s first colour-match surface protection system for superyachts and megayachts.
SeaSkin can now colour-match their special Protectapeel system to the exact shade of the yacht they are working on, allowing the world’s finest luxury yachts to look the part even when they are in for repairs. The new colour-match system will maintain the original appearance of both the hull and the superstructure while providing the same high levels of protection as the standard Protectapeel system.
SeaSkin’s Protectapeel range has been developed in-house to protect all types of superyacht surface against environmental contamination and physical damage for up to 12 months. Applied as a liquid (by spray or roller) these coatings dry to form a skin-tight plastic film that is simply peeled away when required, revealing your pristine surface beneath.
Once applied the high-tech peelable polymer will also drastically reduce yacht cleaning costs and the long-term impact of the microscopic damage that is, ironically, caused by regular crew wash-downs.
SeaSkin has also secured a new purchasing arrangement with Spraylat that enables the materials to be sourced in Pounds Sterling. The new deal combined with a strong Euro means that the Protectapeel prices have been cut by 15% – great money-saving news for the superyacht owners and operators
“Despite outward perceptions, the super and megayacht sectors are very susceptible to cost considerations, especially when it comes to scheduled works,” explains Dave Benson, MD of SeaSkin International. “We have already proved that the system pays for itself very quickly, so the new lower pricing structure and the colour-matching service make Protectapeel an even more attractive option for work-related protection or winterisation.”
Price considerations aside, the new custom colouring option was borne out of pure vanity – something much more familiar to the superyacht market. One owner liked the Protectapeel system, but didn’t want to winterize his superyacht looking like a fishing boat, so asked if he could get it in a different colour – the rest, is history.
