Vilanova Grand Marina opens for business in April
Vilanova Grand Marina, Barcelona, the new marina conceived for and specialized in superyachts and megayachts, opens its doors in April. This marina, strategically located in the Western Mediterranean, in an environment of calm and clean waters a short distance from Barcelona, has been meticulously designed to receive and provide all-round services to boats from 25 to 80 meters in length.
With an initial investment of 30 million Euros, the marina has 49 berths and occupies a surface of 110,000 m2, of which 30,000 m2 are allocated to the technical area, specialized in repair & refit projects for large boats, which will be operational at the end of 2009. It currently employs a team of 15 people, including a captain, five sailors, three persons to attend the Hospitality Desk and two engineers. Another fifty people will be employed in the future to work at the dry dock. Coinciding with the celebration of the Formula 1 Catalonia Grand Prix 2009 (Spain), at the beginning of May, the marina will be offering a special service for superyachts and megayachts and has already received some reservations.
Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona has created with this facility a new generation of marinas in Europe and begins its activity with the aim of becoming a worldwide reference site in the elite nautical sector. The most advanced technical criteria have been considered in the construction process to cater for the specific needs of this type of vessels. The facility complies with the ISPS safety code (International Ship and Port Facility Security) and incorporates mechanisms of surveillance and control 24 hours a day through CCTV, so as to ensure the safety and privacy of its customers.

The new marina features a Hospitality Desk prepared to meet the requirements of the shipowner, captain and crew members, concerning both aspects of the boat and their own needs in land. It also has private operation areas and storerooms for every berth, a professional commercial area, a restaurant, a parking with capacity for 150 vehicles and a helistop.
