Mr. Derrick Van Deventer has been appointed the new Marina Manager at Ao Po Grand Marina as of 7 December 2009. Mr. Van Deventer, a mechanical engineer by training, has lived a life on, at and (as dive instructor) in the sea. He has an excellent understanding of all aspects of the marina industry, both from a management point of view (for the last 4 years he has been running a marina) and as a customer. His extensive marine background as private captain, charter captain and as sports fishing captain, has given him an excellent inside understanding of the needs and requirements of marina customers.
“I really look forward to starting my new position at Ao Po Grand Marina”, says Derrick, “The location, the 24 hour access and the marina team are simply fantastic and it is my personal challenge to help build on the high customer service level and the smooth handling of the marina operation”.
Derrick loves Phuket, he has been living on the island for the last 5 years together with his wife. Before that he used to visit Phuket as a holiday destination for over 10 years. As an avid sports fisher he spends most of his spare time fishing at sea.
Derrick takes over the marina manager position from Mr. Simon Grant, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident last October.
