Rondal to supply spars and rigging for 55m sailing yacht
Monday, 19 October 2009
Rondal has signed the contract to design and construct the spars and rigging for the Spirit of Tradition Ketch (BN 388), currently under construction at Royal Huisman. This 55.00 metre (l.o.a. incl. bowsprit) classically lined yacht is designed for high performance global cruising, while at the same time being capable of competing in the top regattas and sail races. Rondal’s comprehensive package will ensure that the right balance is achieved between comfort and speed.
Due for delivery in 2012, Rondal will create and install the following to the Spirit of Tradition Ketch: Main & mizzen mast (hybrid carbon fibre), main & mizzen furling boom (high-strength carbon fibre), Nitronic N50 standing rigging, running rigging, blade & reacher furling systems, main & mizzen boomvang, main & mizzen mast jacks, and the backstay & halyard cylinders.
The company was awarded this immense order by the client after a highly competitive tendering process that also involved mast builders from New Zealand and the United States. Rondal had already been commissioned to deliver reel winches & feeders, deck hatches and other deck equipment to this hugely impressive project from the drawing board of Gerard Dijkstra and Partners.
Sanlorenzo has a reputation of offering an unrivalled level of customization, which results in the fact that there are never two Sanlorenzo Yachts that are the same. This has been clearly demonstrated by the unique five-stateroom SL104 planing yacht, that will be on display at the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS) this week. Read More
