International Yacht Bureau finalizes commercial certification for 42m superyacht

International Yacht Bureau (IYB) recently finalized the commercial certification of the Marshall Islandsâflagged motor yacht Golden Compass, a 151’ / 46m built by Cantieri Navali Picchioti and previously known as Southerly.
This internationally recognized approval for safety and pollution prevention allows the superyacht to operate as a commerciallyâregistered yacht. The series of intensive plan reviews, hull and machinery examinations, safety and lifesaving equipment inspections, and crew skills’ demonstrations were completed during an extensive refit under the supervision of surveyors from IYB.
Golden Compass is commanded by Capt. Fernando Silvano. Yacht Management and shoreside support are provided by International Yacht Collection. Naval architecture services, including testing and documentation for the stability information book, were provided by Murray & Associates of Fort Lauderdale.
International Yacht Bureau (IYB) is an organization dedicated to the safety, environmental protection, and security activities of private and commercial yachts. With its appointment, International Yacht Bureau provides statutory certification services through plan review, inspection, audit, and survey. It is authorized to issue certificates verifying compliance with the applicable international standards, including ISM and ISPS certification.
