On 9 January 2007, Heesen launched the Galactica, the first of this year's series. This was a memorable event for Heesen Yachts. With her 50 metres, Galactica is one of the largest vessels ever built by Heesen Yachts.
Both the interior and exterior of Galactica are designed by the Heesen Design Team in cooperation with Omega Architects. The aluminium yacht will be powered by twin MTU 16V595 TE90 diesel engines which give her a maximum speed of 28 knots. Galactica will be classed by the Amercian Bureau of Shipping and comply to the MCA code. Sea trials of the Galactica will take place in March and delivery at the end of March. On her maiden voyage Galactica will sail to Barcelona.
