Hoek Brokerage is pleased to announce their appointment as the central agent for the sale of the 80ft S&S Tempest. Tempest is a historic ocean racer designed by Sparkman & Stephens as one of the largest and fastest sailing yachts of her time. With the revival of various Cup’s and Regatta’s and other famous events, she will be extremely suitable as a fast performer and a head turner.
Tempest was built in 1974 by Palmer Johnson and she became a legendary ocean racer. After an extensive life of ocean racing, she was completely rebuilt by Holland Jachtbouw B.V. in the Netherlands in 2000. The result was that the performance of the old Tempest remained with all the beauty and comforts of a new modern performance cruiser. She is a very fast and seaworthy yacht, proven in several crossings and the winning of the last Transatlantic race in 2005.
In 2009 an extensive maintenance upgrade has been executed in the Netherlands, whereby the hull colour has been brought back to the original, being Oyster white with red boot top- and antifouling.
