Superyacht of the week: The Couach 2600 FLY
By Jochem Kaan
Last June, Couach Yachts launched the latest edition to their fleet of “yacht couture” superyachts, in the form of the 26 metre LOA Couach 2600 Fly. With this model, which boasts a fun, sportive and contemporary look, the acclaimed French shipyard, upholding a fine reputation and an impressive history of 115 years of shipbuilding, enters the sector of 80 foot vessels for the first time. Forming the missing link between the existing 22 metre and 28 metre vessels from the Couach range, and further broadening the scope of the brand's impressive fleet, the Couach 2600 Fly is instantly appealing, sportive and light.
Breaking new ground with regards to LOA, the Couach 2600 Fly further develops the strengths of the yard's catalogue: compact and functional yachts that emphasise comfortable onboard living, whether at anchor or while cruising. Adding to this dependable formula, the Couach 2600 Fly boasts speed, stability and agility as some of her main features. With naval architecture by Exequiel Cano Lanza, she is a feisty vessel that combines gracious style with strong performance and superb comfort, and well worth taking a closer look at.
Couach's in-house designer Franck Reynaud successfully developed a concept of consistency with current trends and a balanced blend of the yard's distinct features. With high levels of customisability, the Couach 2600 Fly was, for instance with regards to her layout, inspired by a much larger superyacht. With the 2012, 50 metre La Pellegrina functioning as one her inspirations, the Couach 2600 Fly turned out to be a vessel that makes perfect use of every square metre and adds some assets that would typically be found only on much larger vessels. The result is a vessel that feels pleasantly familiar yet surprisingly different.
With regards to exterior looks, the Couach 2600 Fly looks bold, contemporary and confident. With sportive lines, a compact silhouette and ample of fun personality, this superyacht is simply appealing and impressive spacious. Offering some great exterior decks and airy, light interior spaces, she emphasises exterior living as well as interior comfort. Upon boarding, one is welcomed on a big aft deck that has the first of two al fresco dining areas to be found onboard. With big U-shaped sofa and a large table, this area has a panoramic ambiance with plenty of intimacy.
Inside, the main saloon offers a pleasantly light and fresh style, with large windows allowing the flow of ample natural light. The natural, contemporary and light design offers subtle materials, a fresh colour palette and an overall soothing ambiance of calm and finesse. Large, inviting, leather-upholstered furniture offer comfort and coziness. Modern, elegant cabinetry, a soft lighting scheme and an overall airiness turn this saloon into a friendly space. Fore of the lounge, the formal dining area offers chic dining adjacent to large sliding glass doors on either side, impressive for a vessel of this size, that bring the outside in and open up this area even more.
With regards to guest accommodations, the Couach 2600 Fly extends her character of elegance and lightness into four delightfully appointed suites, all located on the lower deck. One centrally located master suite, reachable by staircase directly from the main saloon, offers a full beam stateroom with office and lounge areas, walk-in wardrobe and spacious en suite with big shower area.
The style is gracefully contemporary and pleasant, with ample natural light framing the suite's light colour palette and luxurious yet subtle materials. This soft, modern design can also be found in the remaining three suites, all reachable by staircase in the bridge fore.
One double, one twin and one delightfully spacious VIP suite complete the Couach 2600 Fly's range of guest accommodations. All perfectly well appointed and graciously styled with an ambiance of lightness and finesse, these guest suites offer great comfort, coziness and luxury. All suites offer great en suites with shower area, and ample wardrobe space.
The Coach 2600 Fly obviously has a great selection of exterior deck areas at her guests' disposal. Aside from the main aft deck, there is a great Portuguese deck with large, U-shaped panoramic cockpit accompanied by a set of big, comfy sun pads. Lounging, relaxing and sunbathing are key here, taking in the exquisite surrounding views while enjoying ample privacy. The flybridge completes the collection of spaces splendidly, with an open and airy deck offering a bar and grill area, a second al fresco dining area, big sun pads fore and aft, and an awning which can be opened up to allow guests to enjoy either sun or shade. The aft deck is used for jetski storage, while the tender is stored on the swimming platform.
The Couach 2600 Fly is a delightfully elegant, fun and modern, full of luxury, a great sense of style and ample of personality. Maximally utilising her volumes, she has a distinct sense of spaciousness and airiness, one of her many attractive features. With some great guest accommodations, spacious interior and exterior areas, and an overall sense of lightness and fun, the Couach 2600 Fly is a pleasant, friendly and highly appealing superyacht that will make her guests feel right at home.
