Launched in 1953 by the Benetti M&B shipyard as a small tug, only the exterior of D.P. Monitor reminds of her history as a tug. In the early nineties she was converted into a luxury explorer yacht and under her current managers, Floating Life, her yacht capabilities were further improved over a 3 year refit plan.
The first refit took place over the 2005/2006 winter season during which most technical work was carried out. The work included the overhaul of the shaft with new synthetic self lubricating bearing, propeller equilibration, structural tanks transformation, building of a new aft structural fuel tank and replacement of the bowthruster engine. The main engine and all piping onboard were serviced. To complete the first refit of D.P. Monitor the whole exterior was repainted; sand colour for the superstructure and green for the hull.
In the 2006/2007 winter season the second refit took place, which mainly focused on the stylish interior and the rugged looks of her exterior. Interior wise the complete galley was replaced with a new state-of-the-art galley, the adjoining dining area was restyled and all covers, cushions and towels were replaced. On the outside work was carried out on her hull plates, all teak decks were replaced and the crane and all systems were serviced. Last but not least she underwent a special RINA survey and a class certificate was issued.
The result is an exclusive yacht that perfectly combines avant-garde technological solutions with the vintage appeal of its original particulars. D.P. Monitor is currently for sale, asking EU 1,400,000, and charter through Floating Life. She is the is the ideal yacht for owners fascinated by the classic lines of a working boat, but with a stylish interior and modern technology.
