If there is one phenomenon hailing from the magical world of the silver screen that has several evident similarities with the superyachts industry, it would be James Bond. Both appealing to the imagination with a unique sense of luxury and always aiming for style and class, enjoying the finer things in life. Surely the infamous secret agent is about action-packed, surreak narratives, while superyachts are about great design, refined luxury and the highest levels of quality, but a comparison between the two is easily drawn as both have the potential to effortlessly spark one's imagination. This surely is the case with the grand, brand new 61 metre Benetti superyacht Diamonds Are Forever.
Owned by an experienced yacht owner, who is evidently a big fan of the british superspy, this exciting vessel is currently on display at the Cannes Boat Show and is the biggest superyacht ever in the show's 35 year history.
At first glance, it becomes evident that Diamonds Are Forever is grand and majestic, with flowing lines embodying a collection of decks that offer vast amounts of space, luxury and privacy. She offers her guests an impressive five decks of space and luxury, and with such an experienced owner aiming for a design concept that is both traditional and innovatively contemporary, all designs and layouts have been meticulously crafted around a set of clearly outlined requirements. The result is a superyacht that boasts a contemporary exterior look, lush and luxuriously classic interior designs and an overall sense of style that is uniquely her own. The levels of finish, quality and customization evidently are of a very high standard, which might be expected from a superyacht built by one of Italy's most renowned and respected shipyards. With the formal ambiance emphasizing a sense lightness and space, this main saloon was designed around a central seating area. This space, consisting of two opposite sofas, a set of large, inviting armchairs and an eye-catching ottoman, assures the saloon's central function as a room for formal entertaining, guest reception and stylish dining. Here, one instantly senses the superyacht's generous personality, which is warm, gentle and grand, luring her guests to enter, sit back and relax in a light, classically styled atmosphere. Sumptuous curves are combined with delicate lines, and a colour palette of off white, beige and dark chocolate is glamorously spiced up by daring splashes of silver and gold throughout. The result is a composition of shapely furnishing in a setting executed in a refined set of luxury materials and framed by a gentle lighting scheme. All this offers guests a classic ambiance that feels dramatic yet personal.
The fore section of the main saloon has been reserved for a formal dining area, which is nothing short of grand. This light space is centered around a big glass-topped dining table with a wavy base of light and silver, surrounded by contemporary classic dining chairs. Seating 12 guests, this lush dining room is a perfect setting for formal dining.
Diamonds Are Forever offers accommodation for a company of up to 12 guests, with an arrangement of 6 staterooms, 4 of which can be found on the lower deck. The vessel's impressive 2 master suites, located fore on the main and upper decks, both offer a dramatic panoramic view as one of the many instantly eye-catching features. Both the upper and main deck master suites are perfectly private and spacious dwellings, designed in a remarkably detailed and sumptuous style, based on a classic personality with evidently modern touches. For the main, split-level suite, a long corridor double functions as a grand entrance and a privacy buffer, connecting a set of lush spaces seamlessly fitted together to form a balanced and luxurious private retreat. From the spacious walk-through wardrobe and luxurious health spa/massage salon to the lush bathroom and circular stateroom, all areas of this split-level master suite are designed in Diamonds Are Forever's unapologetically luxurious style, combining fine Italian marble, onyx and Madrona burl wood with gold leaf, mother of pearl and Marieux crystal.
Framed by gentle off-white carpeting and with the softest of silks applied to various upholsteries, a intimate ambiance with maximum impact was created. From the centrally located bed in the staterooms of both master suites, one can effortlessly enjoy picture perfect panoramic views every moment of the day. The upper deck master suite offers an equally spacious layout and stylish ambiance, with a large onyx and marble central tub in the big bathroom as one of many impressive features. Both masters have large studies/office areas, allowing guests to spend time comfortably working in the privacy of their own suite.
Belowdecks, one can find the vessel's additional 4 guest suites, consisting of two doubles aft and two twins fore. All suites are equally luxurious in space and design, and offer large en-suite bathrooms with sizable shower areas. Additional large storage and wardrobe spaces perfectly complete these guest quarters, allowing each guest a luxury, privacy and class while onboard. The ambiance in all suites is soothing, classic and grandness, with the light colour palette of off-white and dark chocolate composing the suites' atmosphere. All lower deck guest staterooms are situated around the central lobby which, with a spiralling staircase and elevator, connects all decks and allows guests to effortlessly and comfortably move between decks.
The aft upper deck has been reserved for an intimate upper saloon, with lush lounging space, games table and a bar area. This room is perfect for informal entertaining, with the aft dining room assuring ample dinners in a perfectly private, stylish ambiance.
A circular dining table is situated adjacent to the semicircular sliding glass doors leading to the upper aft deck, where guests are welcomed to a set of L-shaped lounging areas framed by magnificent panoramic views. All this turns this section into the perfect setting for dining, after dinner cocktails and intimate parties. `
From here, an attractively large sundeck is merely a few steps away. Aft, a second al-fresco dining table can be found, great for lunches and dinners while enjoying a cool breeze and vista views. Next to this area, the large Jacuzzi offers some cooling relaxation after a few soothing hours of sunbathing. With the adjacent bar area, fully equipped wetbar, lounging sofas and ample sun and shade, this sundeck simply offers everything one might wish for. The aft section of the sun deck also functions as a touch and go helicopter pad. Impressively, Diamonds Are Forever offers yet another deck, right atop the sundeck. This top observation deck offers all around panoramic views, perfect privacy and with the large collection of sun loungers and fore setting of sofa and coffee table, this deck will undoubtedly become a favorite of many guests. To top it all off, this deck is also served by the central guests elevator, allowing all guests to be effortlessly transported from the lower, main or upper deck lobbies right to the sun and observation decks.
