Following to the huge success of superyacht Prima at the Monaco Yacht Show, Palumbo signed a contract for the construction of a 40 metre yacht, the Columbus Sport 130’ Hybrid, designed by Hydro Tec Naval Architecture, with a modern interior by Hot Lab.

The Columbus Sport 130’ Hybrid is an innovative concept that combines new lines and high technology with respect for the marine environment, an important issue for the yard, as Prima was awarded the RINA Green Star Plus by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II in the presence of His Majesty the King of Spain.

The boat will comply with latest IMO MARPOL regulations and will be equipped with a bilge water separator even though this is not requested by class. The most environmental friendly feature is the hybrid system itself. This allows for slow cruising, with the main engines switched off, running on the generators alone, which run at a fixed rpm thus reducing NOx and SOx emission.

The Hybrid system that will be used on the Columbus 130 Sport Hybrid features two electric engines connected to the gear box. This allows to have electrical navigation for a maximum speed of 7.5 knots, getting power from generators, and to generate electrical energy while in cruising on the main engines.

The all-aluminium Columbus 130’ Hybrid, now under construction, measures 40 metres in length, and offers three decks, that offer a high internal volume. Three guest cabins plus the owner suite offer accommodation up to 8 guests.

She is being built under RINA classification in compliance with MCA.
