By Maarten Janssen
The Palumbo yard in Italy has finished construction of the hull of the Columbus Sport 130’ Hybrid, designed by Hydro Tec Naval Architecture. Today we can show you the first image of the completed aluminium hull.
The all-aluminium Columbus 130’ Hybrid measures 40 metres in length, and offers three decks, that offer a high internal volume. Three guest cabins plus the owner's suite offer accommodation up to 8 guests.
The Hybrid system that will be used on the Columbus 130 Sport Hybrid features two electric engines connected to the gear box. This allows to have electrical navigation for a maximum speed of 7.5 knots, getting power from generators, and to generate electrical energy while in cruising on the main engines.
She is being built under RINA classification in compliance with MCA. Andrea Carlevaris & Partners are the surveyors appointed by the Client and followed this prototype project since the early stages of specification review and contract negotiations. (They are now continuing to contribute with their expertise to make sure that the final product will match Owner’s expectations).
