Icon Yachts launches Basmalina II formerly known as Project Sunbeam

Icon Yachts has launched the 43m semi-displacement superyacht Basmalina II, formerly project Sunbeam. The client’s representatives Mega Marine are extremely pleased with the enthusiasm and flexibility with which the yard has encompassed the project. High priority was placed on innovative design and engineering.
“The Owner intended creating a highly innovative and modern vessel with many unique design features and we rose to each challenge, no matter how complex, working in unison with numerous sub-contractors to ensure the requests became a reality” comments Captain Carsten Franik, one of several in-house experts of the Mega Marine new construction division.
High priority was placed on innovative design and engineering, ensuring safety, efficiency and comfort while using only the finest materials and fabrics for all areas and a sophisticated audio-visual system throughout. An entirely custom designed tender and the high powered underwater lights complete the picture of a modern super yacht for the visionary owner.
The Research Vessel (RV) Pegaso just made her debut in Monaco and gave the world a glimpse into her Global Mission for Marine Conservation. Her oceanographic capabilities are impressive: 5-person Diver Lockout submarine, Ice Class notation, 10,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, wet/dry laboratory, and separate scientist quarters. Read More
