Saturday 14th April 2012 marked the launch of one of Redman Whiteley Dixon’s (RWD), most significant projects to date, Hampshire II, a 78.5m motor yacht. Masterfully built by Feadship, with interior and exterior design by the Hampshire-based design studio and project managed by the team at Edmiston.
The yacht was commissioned, inspired and directed by an experienced owner who worked closely with the professional team throughout the design and build to incorporate an array of innovative features and extreme attention detail that has resulted in a landmark motor yacht.
The design is centred around the clients passion for sports, adventure and entertaining which is reflected in many areas of the yacht: the foredeck can cleverly transform into a games area for football, basketball and deck quoits; an exceptional 12-seater cinema, finished in dark blue horsehair; a cosy dining room with a real fire; a ‘tasting table’ to watch and sample the chef’s mastery; a ‘drift wood’ styled beach club complete with windsurf equipment, a gym, and bespoke-bar.
Hampshire II possess a number of other special features including: a richly panelled mahogany wine cellar set around a moon pool, a suspended glass walkway and a crow’s nest to carry two guests 25m above sea level to enjoy approaching anchorages, with a zip wire for a quick descent.
Mark Whiteley, Partner at Redman Whiteley Dixon, comments: “Hampshire II is quite possibly one of the finest yachts ever to be built - we are immensely proud to be associated with her. The style we have created is homely yet contemporary and is tailored to suit the owner’s lifestyle. She takes bespoke to another level; every detail has been thoroughly considered and built to the highest standards.”
Hampshire II represents just one of many design briefs for RWD; the team is constantly working across a broad spectrum of design styles. 2012 has been a busy year for the studio having delivered several of the industry’s most significant projects; including the 96 metre Vava II launched at Devonport Yachts and the Feadship Drizzle.
