At the last Monaco Yacht Show, Tankoa Yachts, a new Italian shipyard based in Genoa, presented their first superyacht; the 65 metre Tankoa S65. She is a twin screw displacement motor yacht built to both RINA and Lloyd’s rules. The superyacht will have a high tensile steel hull with a light weight alloy superstructure. Read More

Mayan Queen IV visits Dartmouth

Last week the 92 metre Blohm & Voss Mayan Queen IV sailed into the River Darth and berthed at Dartmouth in South Devon. Built under the project name Safari, Mayan Queen IV was designed by well known British superyacht designer Tim Heywood. Her Mexican owner previously owned a 49 metre Feadship with the same name. The 54 metre Project 57, named Steel, is designed by Liebowitz & Pritchard, who have worked before with Pendennis on the 47.5 metre motorsaloir MitseaAH. Under a rich blue sky on a November Saturday morning the massive Alustar aluminum hull of Twizzle was rolled out of her construction hall for routine turning. This morning the 75.75m Ocean Victory left Harlingen to complete her last sea trials prior to delivery. Ocean Victory, the first full custom Feadship superyacht built at the Makkum facility of Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw, left the shipyard last week and conducted her first sea trials off Rotterdam, before docking in Harlingen. The masts for the 52m ketch Nazenin V being built at RMK Marine in Turkey have been delivered. The all carbon spar package has been produced by Southern Spars. Nazenin V’s spar package is made from prepreg standard modulus carbon fibre. The Main mast is a five spreader rig that stands at 59.69m tall. Read More

Claasen Jachtbouw ordered the hull of the largest J-Class yacht ever to be built by Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw. The impressive ship Lionheart, that is being finished by Claasen Jachtbouw, was transported last week on a pontoon from Makkum to Zaandam. Lionheart is being built after an original design of Ranger. The design concept is based on the succesful M/Y Metsuyan IV and she will also be built at CBI Navi, part of Fipa Group, in Italy.
