Breaking News: Fincantieri signs contract for 140 metre superyacht

Fincantieri has signed a contract for the construction of a seven-deck motor yacht of 140 metres in length. The superyacht will be identified as “Hull # 6218”. This is the first order for a yacht longer than 80 metres signed since the beginning of the financial crisis in October 2008. Completed hull of Lürssen superyacht Firebird launched

The hull of the C.2156 – 55m Picchiotti-Vitruvius motor-yacht was successfully transported by sea from the Perini Navi shipyard in Yildiz, Istanbul to the Beconcini Shipyard in La Spezia, Italy. Lürssen to deliver three superyachts in 2009

With five deliveries in 2008 Lürssen has had one of it's busiest years. The 155m Al Said, 70m Martha Ann, 60m Vive la Vie, 110m Dilbar and 78m Madsummer, all left the yard for their cruising grounds. Last week the completed hull and superstructure of hull number C.2146 safely arrived at Perini Navi’s Picchiotti shipyard in Viareggio. Royal Huisman launches J Class Hanuman

Hanuman, the replica new build of Endeavour II, was launched over the weekend at the Royal Huisman yard. Designed by Dykstra and Partners, and with an interior by Pieter Beeldsnijder; she made a dramatic appearance as she was lowered into the water. The latest Pershing 115’ superyacht, Spirit du Brazil, will leave Marina dei Cesari in Fano shortly for a long trip to her home port in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will take the superyacht about a week to sail round Italy, after which she will be loaded onto a large transport ship which will cross the Atlantic Ocean to Brazil where her owner is eagerly waiting for her. Lürssen's 85 metre J-24 enters new floating dock

At the beginning of February a new floating dock arrived at the Lürssen shipyard in Rendsburg from Montenegro. This new and second floating dock for the Rendsburg facility has a length of 150 metres, width of 35 metres and a height of 40 metres. The first superyacht to be completed in this new dock is J-24. RMK Marine have used a new application method for the hull painting for Nazenin V the Sparkman & Stephens 52m ketch currently under construction. The Awlgrip paint team were on hand throughout the process which was carried out by subcontractors Karma at the Tuzla yard. The whole process took 6 hours to spray the 52m ketch. Read More

At the end of 2008 the Rio de Janeiro based shipyard RioStar launched Motu, the first Procion 110. The 33 metre superyacht was designed by Fernando de Almeida Yacht Design who, in cooperation with RioStar, was also responsible for the yacht’s Naval Architecture.
