Construction of the Blue Coast 95 at H2X

The Blue Coast 95’, one of the biggest cruising catamarans in the world designed by Jean‐Jacques Coste, is still under construction in the workshop of H2X shipyard in La Ciotat. It has been a year now since the client, who came through charter‐brokerage‐management company Gaspard Yachts, chose H2X. The yacht will be launched at the end of the summer, a record‐time for a 28,80 m custom catamaran.

The construction began in July 2009 with the modeling of the project by the H2X design and engineering department, and the construction of 2 composite hulls. The hulls were assembled in December. Since the beginning of the year, partitions, systems and the floors have been laid. Fittings are currently under construction and the painting of the ship has begun.

The composite department is currently adding on the roof via the “one‐shot” infusion process. This part has an area of 198m² and requires all the knowhow and the experience of the H2X teams. The perfect management of the process will contribute to reaching the ambitious objective of a large ship construction in less than 18 months.

This construction illustrates the H2X project expertise in management, which has been one of the decisive points in the choice of the shipyard: optimum coordination of the different teams, very efficient forward planning tools, and personalized followup of the client’s needs and questions.

The official launch of the ship will take place during the Cannes boat show from 8 to 13 September 2010.
