The Picchiotti Vitruvius 55 metre Galileo G, the second of three Vitruvius superyachts sold to date by the Perini Navi Group, is ready to be launched at the yard's La Spezia facility. Designed by Vitruvius Ltd, the second motor yacht is built in compliance with ice-class standards, in order to complete the Northwest passage, the sea route through the Artic Ocean, via the waterways amidst the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
The ice-class Picchiotti-Vitruvius 55 metres has a range of 9,000 miles at 11 knots thanks to the efficient hull lines and the fine water entree designed by Philippe Briand.
She has been constructed in accordance with MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency) and LY2 (Large Commercial Yacht Code) requirements that are highly stringent and restrictive for this category.
On friday our editor Maarten will travel to Italy to attend the launch of Galileo G, expect more photos of the yacht on these pages early in the week!
