Royal Huisman has launched the 49 metre superyacht Kamaxitha. Her design is based on the striking profile of early pilot cutters, and this elegant ketch combines classic traditional lines – including plumb bow and elegant counter stern – with an invigorating aptitude for performance and fast passage making.
The elegant lines are drawn by Gerard Dykstra and Partners, whose expertise in performance-orientated classic yachts is arguably second to none. They have married sympathetic period features such as gentle sheer, open deck space, neatly-proportioned deckhouses and skylights, above the waterline, with a modern, easily driven hull shape below. The canoe underbody sports a fully ballasted lifting keel, carbon spade rudder and low wetted surface areas.
With her Alustar hull and tall carbon spars, this will be a lightweight yacht whose seakeeping and performance will be complemented by style, comfort and amenity below. Rhoades Young Design will draw upon classic references and traditional craftsmanship for a mellow and invitingly luxurious interior.
The Research Vessel (RV) Pegaso just made her debut in Monaco and gave the world a glimpse into her Global Mission for Marine Conservation. Her oceanographic capabilities are impressive: 5-person Diver Lockout submarine, Ice Class notation, 10,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, wet/dry laboratory, and separate scientist quarters. Read More
