Cassiopeia II is a 43 metre, semi-displacement motor yacht under construction at Holland Jachtbouw. Wishing to upgrade from his current 32m yacht Cassiopeia I, Rhoades Young have been appointed as interior architects for this new vessel for an American client.

The company describes the interior for the new Cassiopeia as “elegant classic with a contemporary twist”. Rather than a typical lacquered yacht interior the architecture of the cabins is of classic limed oak which combined with sensuous Italian styling gives a light and airy formal architecture with a depth of finish reminiscent of chateaus and period furniture. This classic architecture is juxtaposed with very modern loose furniture and soft furnishings. This loose furniture will provide a texture and contrast to the architecture of the spaces creating a relaxed and thoroughly modern take on a classic gentleman’s motor yacht.

The upper deck will differentiate itself by drawing upon Indonesian influences contrasted to teak furniture to reinforce a connection between the interior and exterior. The aft doors in this area will fold away to leave the upper deck as one open social space seamlessly connected to one and another

Punctuating the centre of the GA is an offset circular staircase with intricate metal work balustrades. This feature connects formal lobbies on all decks and provides drama and focus to the main entrance foyer.
