New superyacht refit and repair facility on the French Atlantic Coast
By Merijn de Waard
The Atlantic Refit Center (ARC) is a new facility for superyacht refits up to 150 metres in length. Based on the French Atlantic coast in La Rochelle, the Atlantic Refit Center is the perfect shipyard that offers all types of services for superyachts, such as welding, piping, mechanics and painting. Situated in a secured zone, it occupies the only deep sea port on the French Atlantic coast accessible 24/7 (14 m draft).
The Atlantic Refit Center has two dry-docks; one of 176 metres long by 21.86 metres wide and a second dock of 107 metres long by 13.84 metres wide. Next to the two dry docks is a further 250 metres of floating repair docks. Other facilities include a 300 ton elevator, a 35 ton wreck crane and 2,000 m2 hard standing storage space. From 2010 the ARC will also be able to offer an industrial paint booth for superyachts up to 38 metres in length.
ARC’s team is led by experienced professionals from the superyacht industry. Chris Atkinson (ACA Marine Yacht Painters) and Stéphane Marcelli (shipyard and project management) control and manage the entire refit and repair process to ensure every project attains the same high quality standards and is completed to schedule.
