Although Guido de Groot Design has been involved in the design of refits on sail yachts, such as Gitana, the 21m Axonite is the first sail powered new build designed by the studio from scratch.
Axonite is currently under construction at The K&M yard in Holland and has naval architecture by Satellite Yacht Design. This project has been exciting and a great opportunity to design a bespoke sail yacht with specific requirements set out by the client.
Axonite is a sail yacht that is designed to be used as a short handed, round the world vessel, and as such needs to be rugged and practical. The studio has been involved in her exterior styling and interior design.
The main salon is a fresh and modern interpretation of the functional space required in the brief. The open plan split level area creates a feeling of space and architectural interest. Her exterior design is unmistakably a Guido de Groot design, blending careful attention to detail, crisp modern and practical lines. The interior is contemporary, masculine and clean.
Sanlorenzo has a reputation of offering an unrivalled level of customization, which results in the fact that there are never two Sanlorenzo Yachts that are the same. This has been clearly demonstrated by the unique five-stateroom SL104 planing yacht, that will be on display at the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS) this week. Read More
