The Sanlorenzo 100 has been among the most popular models of this iconic Italian shipyard and at the upcoming Genoa International Boat Show the SL100 New will be unveiled. Sanlorenzo has two facilities; one in Ameglia (La Spezia) concentrating on the planning fleet, including the SL100 New, and another one in Viareggio which offers clients different models including the soon to be launched Sanlorenzo 44 Steel.

After a broad and deep analysis of the concept, the Design Department of the shipyard, with the cooperation of different naval architects and designers, has updated the external lines to present-day requirements with delicate, but substantial touches on the gunwale line, on the windows, on the shape of the transom and the fly bridge. Francesco Paszkowski gave a solid contribution to outline definition.

One of the most significant new elements on the SL 100 New, are the much larger windows than on the previous SL 100 model. The motor yacht is available with or without hard top. Its outline, shape, poles, and the shading system are a completely new design. On the bathing platform an original shower system is mounted, composed by a pivoting arm which is hidden when not in use, on the teak part of the transom gunwale.

Another new feature is the anchor nests cover system. Two hydraulic operated pivoting doors close the anchor nests continuing the lines of the hull. Beside the two hawse hole, two video cameras monitor the anchor movements.

Thanks to a 3D study, the designers have rationalized and optimized the engine room. A thick floating sandwich bulkhead filled with high-efficacy thermo and soundproof material divides the engine room from the guests and owners areas.

The new interior decoration and the lay-out have been designed by Rodolfo Dordoni of Dordoni Architetti, a highly reputed Milan interior decoration studio. Dordoni had a different and new vision of the interior of a yacht. The key element of his vision is the freedom from visual barriers: on the SL 100 New there is a deep and continuous vision from stern to bow, with an unusual field depth for this size.

Some new elements by Dordoni are: the light and “aerial” staircase, the bronze thin layers on the roof, the dining room on the front area of the main deck and the sofa under the front wind shield, instead of a technical area.

For the first time in the yachting industry, a large group of leading companies from the furniture-design sector participated to set up SL 100 New: Minotti (sofas), Cassina (furniture), Boffi (kitchen), Viabizzuno (lights), Rapsel (taps) Antonio Lupi (bath accessories), Vitra (the Charles Eames chaise longue in the owner’s cabin), Paola Lenti (fly bridge furniture).

On the lower deck, the Sanlorenzo Design Department worked closely with Dordoni to realize three equal cabins, of the same importance, connected by a wide lobby, devoted to relaxing or as a further occasional sleeping area.

The SL 100 New is powered by twin 1,790kW (2,435 HP) MTU 16V2000M93 engines which enable the superyacht to reach a maximum speed of 28 knots and a continuous cruising speed of 26 knots.
