Jongert makes spectacular re-entry into motor yacht market

Jongert has announced a brand-new motor yacht concept called the 2900 MY. This is the first time in over a decade that the leading Dutch yard – renowned the world over for its customized sailing yachts – has offered a motor yacht design. Highlights include an exceptionally spacious interior and a stylish exterior profile created in partnership with Guido de Groot.

Unveiled to the public at the Monaco Yacht Show, the 29.65-metre semi-displacement motor yacht is designed in a voluminous aluminum hull. The interior is therefore equivalent to that normally found in larger Dutch steel yachts, and includes no less than four double guest cabins (two of which are VIP suites). The wheelhouse is also entirely separate from the owner’s accommodation, ensuring privacy for all concerned.

Dutch specialist Guido de Groot has given the yacht a distinctive Jongert look that is sure to appeal to fans of both modern and timeless designs. The standard specs package of the 2900 MY is comprehensive and includes even a large canopy on the sun deck. Twin 1045 KW Caterpillar engines are also fitted as standard, offering a top speed of 25 knots. Special attention has been paid to noise and vibration attenuation throughout the vessel. With zero speed stabilizing fins, the 2900 MY will be virtually motionless in even the most challenging anchor conditions.

The newly formed motor yacht division at Jongert is in for a busy time. Negotiations are already underway for the construction of several 36-metre versions of the 2900 MY as well as more traditional-looking 35-metre displacement motor yachts. The aim is to build yachts within the 27 to 40m range, although Jongert can technically build up to 60m inside its new, purpose-built facilities.
