Ginton Naval Architects designs a new 40m CBI Navi motor yacht

Ginton Naval Architects in Holland has received an order for the design of a 40 metre Motor Yacht. The design concept is based on the succesful M/Y Metsuyan IV and she will also be built at CBI Navi, part of Fipa Group, in Italy. She has a steel hull, aluminium superstructure, 2 Caterpillar C32 engines, 850 hp each, ZF 4:1 gearboxes and Caterpillar C4.4 generators.
The yacht has been designed to be exceptionally quiet. The design of the propeller, the mountings for shaft and engine and the exhaust system have received a lot of attention. The exhaust system for example is a specially designed scoop below the waterline. This greatly reduces exhaust noise and results in far less exhaust gases around the boat.
As is normal on Ginton Naval Architects displacement yachts, this yacht will also be fitted with a bulbous bow. This reduces resistance and pitch movement in head seas. Low resistance, fuel consumption and the tremendous fuel capacity (56000 l.) give a range of 4200 nautical miles.
She will have all the beauty of a true yacht, but with the sailing abilities of a true ship. The yard has started building and she will be ready for the 2010 season.
Sanlorenzo has a reputation of offering an unrivalled level of customization, which results in the fact that there are never two Sanlorenzo Yachts that are the same. This has been clearly demonstrated by the unique five-stateroom SL104 planing yacht, that will be on display at the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS) this week. Read More
