Derecktor unveils the 85.6m Tim Heywood designed Cakewalk
Derecktor and the Cakewalk team unveiled a model of the new Cakewalk presently in build at Derecktor. The long awaited unveiling was held September 24th at YCO’s beautiful Monaco offices overlooking Monaco’s harbor.
Inspiring speeches were made by John Clark from YCO, Paul Derecktor, Tim Heywood, Hugo van Wieringen from Azure, and Captain Bill Zinser the Cakewalk project manager. Bill Zinser did the actual unveiling of the model with the Cakewalk build team.
At 281 (85.6m) feet and 2,950 tons, this Cakewalk surpasses her four predecessors in size and is the largest yacht built in the U.S. since the 1930s, and possibly the biggest ever built in the States when measured by volume.
The sheer amount of space is unparalleled, and opens a world of possibilities for extraordinary design and craftsmanship. Styled by internationally acclaimed yacht designer, Tim Heywood, she embodies everything one comes to expect from a Cakewalk – and more!
Step aboard, and you sense something grand is about to happen. From the recessed dining salon ceilings adorned with hand-painted canvases to the majestic staircase ascending to four of the six decks, this elegant motor yacht is the epitome of gracious cruising. And while the spaciousness is akin to that of a country manor, the furnishings, exotic woods and distinctive appointments create an air of unmistakable comfort and warmth.
Uncharacteristically large gathering rooms – inside and out, and on every deck – are plentiful as are more intimate spaces for reflection and relaxation. However, what elevates this yacht to pure perfection is the unique placement of the guest and owner quarters.
Unlike others in her class, Cakewalk’s guest staterooms are located above deck. Gone are the tiny portholes. In their place are stately picture windows that provide glorious views of sea and sky. Spacious baths with separate spa tubs and showers paired with plush furnishings and one-touch control systems are examples of the extent to which the designers went to ensure passengers feel completely pampered.
The owner’s stateroom, located above the main deck, features a breathtaking forward view and includes the master suite and bath as well as a gymnasium, spa and recreation salon with theater. This deluxe accommodation commands the entire deck providing room to roam and an unprecedented level of privacy. Astern is an equally spacious deck with numerous lounge areas and a table for 16 – ideal for dining al fresco.
Atop the owner’s deck is the bridge deck with its game room and spacious aft deck, and above that is the sun deck. The sun deck’s forward section is replete with bar, observation chairs, sunshades and dining/game tables, while the aft area sports a whirlpool spa and sun beds for up to 10 guests. The expansiveness of this deck inspires an indescribable sense of freedom.
Going ashore? Three custom tenders guarantee you arrive safely – and in style. Choose from the 37-ft. (11.3m) Vikal limousine tender, the 35-ft. (10.6m) Intrepid or the 100th Anniversary model of the 33-ft. (10.07m) Riva Cento.
Few yachts can claim the acute attention to detail that preoccupies Cakewalk’s designers and builders. From the initial plan, their mission has been to create a vessel with quality and beauty built in at every turn. The result: An uncompromising modern classic that promises to enhance the enjoyment of all aboard. From state-of-the art equipment, navigation and entertainment technology to the broad walk-around decks, attentive crew and celebrated chefs, this graceful, exquisitely proportioned yacht reflects the pride that is inherently American.
