Brisk business for Drettmann at the Boot 2008
With 279.000 visitors from around the world – 6.000 more than last year – the boot came to a highly satisfactory end on 27 January 2008 for nearly 1,700 exhibitors of the aquatic sports industry.
“The boot 2008 has more than fulfilled our expectations,” said Werner M. Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf. “The visitors to the booths are knowledgeable and have strong purchasing power. They come from nearly every country in the world. It is obvious that international commercial activities for boats, yachts and aquatic sports are right at home in Düsseldorf.”
For Drettmann GmbH, which had the largest exhibition booth and the two largest yachts on display – the Elegance 98 and the Elegance 90 – the boot is also the most important trade show of the year. “This is where we conduct the main portion of our yearly business,” said Albert Drettmann, the firm’s owner in the second generation. “In an exhibition space of just under 3,000 square meters, we were able to present 11 yachts, with sizes ranging from 30 to 98 feet, to both existing and potential customers. Our presence was very well received by both trade show visitors and the press. We are fully satisfied with the show results and the business transactions.”
Drettmann, a family-owned enterprise, develops and builds high-end, luxurious motorised yachts in sizes ranging from 16 to currently, 50 meters – completely tailored to the owner’s requirements. And demand for yachts in the upper luxury segment is rising. “Our clientele comes from all parts of the world,” adds Albert Drettmann, “but currently the Russian market is advancing strongly.”
Drettmann GmbH has significantly strengthened its market position through a global sales network and participation in all the most important boat fairs internationally. Last year, total revenue increased by 10 - 15%. And the new year has started out strongly for the Bremen-based yacht builders, with a total of 14 new deals closed at the 2008 boot.
