OYS successes highlighted at Monaco
Ocean Yacht Systems (OYS) will be showcasing its incredible successes as key sales and technical staff attend this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.
OYS, long established as the world leader in the supply of superyacht rigging and hydraulics, has found great success in exploring new market sectors. For example, OYS Thrusters is enjoying great success as a premium product supplier.
The ability to provide custom designed solutions has led to the Thrusters division receiving no less than 16 orders for yachts of more than 40m in length – despite launching only three years ago.
OYS puts its success down to the ability to provide short lead times – around 20 weeks - a competitive pricing policy and word of mouth recommendation from contented customers.
Sales Director, Mark Barwell, explains: “Our USP is the ability to provide custom designed solutions – we are able to make designs which fit into certain spaces and the cost is often the same as other companies’ standard – or we’re able to offer off the shelf solutions. At Monaco we’ll be aiming to prepare preliminary quotes and suggest lead times, even while Project Managers and Captains are on our stand.”
A high proportion of orders for thrusters have originated from the Pacific Region, with business emanating as a result of various new builds underway at the high calibre, and increasingly popular, New Zealand superyacht yards.
This rich stream of orders makes perfect sense, bearing in mind the proximity of OYS Pacific, the Auckland based subsidiary of OYS, which is perfectly positioned to supply, install and service these major items of equipment throughout this region.
Monaco Yacht Show is often referred to as the start of the service season and OYS will be promoting its Service Programme – tailored around the needs of each individual skipper and boat.
Participating yachts have their maintenance history recorded in a dedicated RigLog, which is safely stored back at the OYS head office. This information is continually updated at each service interval so that the most appropriate and efficient future service and maintenance intervals for each yacht can be calculated.
The service programme utilises only approved members of the OYS worldwide service network to carry out any inspections and remedial work. The service can also be extended to caring for yachts which have not been fitted with OYS products from the outset.
OYS – which still holds the record for building the largest vang in the world, for Mirabella V - has spent more than two years developing a completely new carbon hydraulic vang for yachts.
The first example is due onboard a new 45m sailing yacht and is 60 per cent lighter than an equivalent stainless steel vang. Therefore, besides the obvious benefit of the vang offering increased sailing performance, it is also an easier product to install and remove.
