From the Edmiston Terrace of The Port Palace Hotel, Edmiston announced on the first day of the Monaco Yacht Show, that superyacht designer, Andrew Winch is the winner of the Edmiston Superyacht Range Rover Design Competition. In April 2008, Edmiston challenged the world’s leading superyacht designers to customise a Range Rover using the influence of cutting-edge superyacht design.

Land Rover design director, Gerry McGovern, formed part of the judging panel that saw seven of the world’s leading super yacht designers rise to the challenge, and the results exceeded everyone’s already high expectations.

The designs by Bannenberg, Tim Heywood, Andrew Winch, Terence Disdale, Ken Freivokh, Redman Whiteley Dixon and Martin Francis were on show on the Edmiston Terrace during the Monaco Yacht Show 2008 and Andrew Winch was announced as the winner during a press conference on the first day of the show.

Andrew Winch commented, “I am so excited to have just won the Edmiston Superyacht Range Rover Design Competition. It was a very exciting challenge to compete against friends and colleagues in the yacht design industry to produce an innovative and unique Winch signature on such a great, established car as the Range Rover.

As always, I approached this challenge from a lifestyle and Client point of view so that the design will stand out in the Cote D’Azur, yet work in harmony with our beautiful motor and sailing yacht designs. It is the ONLY mode of transport from private Winch jet to Winch yacht! Once again Edmiston are being highly innovative in their approach to Client lifestyle.”

Jamie Edmiston commented, “All seven designs impressed us with their innovation and originality. It was a very close decision, with Andrew Winch’s design variations, including the cruiser and stretched version inspiring the judges. All of the designers have created a range of vehicles that are sure to become must-have Land Tenders for the superyacht owner.

All the designs are inspirational and we would like to thank the designers for taking part and to congratulate Andrew.”, John Wright, Manager of Global Government and Direct Sales for Land Rover added, “Land Rover is delighted to see the results of the world’s leading super yacht designers who have enthusiastically interpreted Range Rover as the must-have superyacht accessory. The designers have all developed exciting, fully bespoke Range Rover’s for the Edmiston conceived superyacht Range Rover design competition. Many congratulations to Andrew on his winning design.”
