Yachting is now highly regulated, with yachts subject to numerous legal jurisdictions. Non-compliances expose the owner, manager and captain to criminal convictions, the withdrawal of professional certificates of competence, loss of insurance cover, detention of the yacht with subsequent loss of charter hire, and increased depreciation. MatrixLloyd is there to help owners, managers and Captains, by providing practical, integrated advice and assistance. They have all the necessary experience and expertise to provide answers, solutions and practical help, either on a one-off basis or as part of an ongoing service package.

From the moment a build or purchase is contemplated, MatrixLloyd is on hand to assist. Based well away from the traditional offshore jurisdictions, there’s no one better placed to give independent guidance on suitable ownership structures – to avoid legal and fiscal liabilities, and benefit from officially-approved, investment-backed lease structures.

MatrixLloyd can also implement ISM and ISPS Codes, acting as the Company and providing a Designated Person. For smaller vessels, they can also ensure compliance with other Codes such as LY2, including the provision of bespoke safety and crew training manuals.  They can also:

• Draft captain’s contracts of employment and Crew Agreements, negotiating flag state approval as required;
• Help with the Official Log Book and all other required logs and publications;
• Check that all the ship’s papers and certificates are in order; and
• Help with all the shore-based requirements, including dockage, bunkers, oils, spares, technical services, surveys, safety audits and guardianage.

MatrixLloyd can assist in obtaining all types of insurance cover, on the most appropriate terms, at the right price and through the appropriate broker. We can ensure that the underwriter is kept up-to-date on issues which may put the vessel off-cover and, should the worst come to the worst, assist in the handling and settlement of any claim. Their fully-qualified Lead ISM Auditor is on hand to conduct a complete risk assessment to ensure that renewals are based on the most accurate risk profile available.

MatrixLloyd’s team of project managers can formulate or review build or refit specifications, taking into account classification society and flag state requirements. They can conduct tendering processes, draw up the necessary contracts, and handle any outstanding warranty issues.

Finally, MatrixLloyd provides practical and robust security and risk management solutions tailored to each yacht, including ISPS Code compliance, training and security teams for high-risk transits.
