We Inspect What You Expect

Presently, options available to yacht owners with operational concerns are limited - and usually involve replacement. Costs in replacing management companies or captains are high. We offer an alternative. Yacht Auditing International provide tailored audits focussing on yacht operations. Our philosophy is improvement before replacement.

Why Audit

Yachts are surveyed for structural integrity, yet operational integrity is disregarded. Evident by the high crew turnover during yacht sales and disguised by the rationale of a “Fresh Start.” Today’s yachts resemble corporate scale and complexity, yet auditing is remiss.

• Corporations undergo scheduled audits
• Safety & security are audited independently
• Structural integrity is surveyed - Operational integrity is forgotten

Today’s yacht captain must be a project manager, human resources manager, a construction contracts manager etc, though navigation courses do not teach this. Auditing identifies areas for improvement - preferably prior to breakdown.

Auditing can be viewed two ways. One may see auditing as an intrusion akin to a which hunt. Others use audits to a tool to identify opportunity for improvement - or preferably, confirm proficient operation. Proactive management is highly regarded.

Custom Audits

Comparison to industry standards is often unsuitable - standards of ownership matter. Though in the same way steel is cut utilizing standard processes it remains part of a custom yacht. Custom audits focus on ensuring best practice for internal processes, whilst maintaining individuality of outcomes. Inspection comprises:

• Presentation and professionalism
• Accounting practices & processes
• Boat handling and crew direction
• Crew management polices & practice

Reporting & Follow Up

The final audit report includes findings and comprehensive recommendations for improvement - should they be necessary. In most cases, recommendations may be implemented by existing management - ie, the captain. In any case, they will relate to the present management structure.

Our confidential audit findings are presented in both electronic and printed format directly to ownership or their representative as previously arranged. Recommendations will be impartial to any company. We have sample audit reports to illustrate our services.
