58 Metre Dubois designed superyacht order at Royal Huisman

Dubois Naval Architects and Royal Huisman have announced they have been appointed to design and build a new superyacht. The 58 metre sloop is currently shrouded in an element of secrecy in anticipation for a big reveal at the upcoming Monaco Boat Show.

The project promises to be as innovative as it is exciting. She will feature a dramatic sheer line and sculpted bow, giving the vessel an edgy look while adding strength and seaworthiness. The molded glass superstructure and crisp stern shape are just a couple of demonstrations of the progressiveness of the design.

A slender, easily driven hull form will be refined with extensive tank testing to include studying the shape of a high-span lifting keel and the configuration of the carbon fibre rudder arrangement. With mast and deck hatches by Rondal, a high aspect sail plan and large square top mainsail will add the final measure of horsepower that will be tamed by twin steering stations.

On deck, wide teak planking with off white seams will downplay a hidden crane, tender garage and large swim spa forward, while aft a sunbed connects to a beach deck with articulated swim platform. Francis Sultana will design the interiors, and accommodation on board the project will include a master apartment inclusive of a gym, sauna and library, as well as two additional guest staterooms.

Ed Dubois comments, “This is a thought provoking design that does not take for granted the marriage of high performance, style and comfort. This is some yacht, inspired by a client looking for the next new, new thing; a dream project for a designer.”

Keel laying is scheduled for January 2015 with a delivery in Spring 2017.
