American shipyard Brooklin Boat Yard in Brooklin, Maine, has recently started on the construction of a new 91-foot sailing sloop commissioned by a repeat client. Construction will last 18 months with the project expected to be ready for delivery in the spring of 2018.
Designer Bruce Johnson created the yacht with high-performance cruising along the U.S. coast in mind, fitting the custom sloop with a central social cockpit with all manoeuvres and line handling taking place in the aft ‘working’ cockpit. Each cockpit is surrounded by a low protective coaming with its own companionway leading below deck.
A carbon fibre mast, flush deck, and hydraulic furlers tick just some of the yacht’s high-performance boxes.
Guests are accommodated in three cabins including two guest staterooms forward of the mast with a generous owner’s suite located aft of the main saloon. The interior will be finished in Herreshoff style with white and cream paintwork offset by American cherry joinery, leather upholstery and a teak and maple cabin sole.
"We are very pleased to be building a third boat for this customer. He's a very experienced yachtsman who is a pleasure to collaborate with," said Steve White, president of Brooklin Boat Yard.
