One of the most exciting superyacht regattas on the racing calendar each year has got to be the St Barths Bucket. A fleet of high profile super sailing yachts like no other rendezvous off the waters of the jet set Caribbean island in March every year to battle it out for the top spot in the superyacht sailing world. 2017 is no different as 38 superyachts - ranging from 30 to 88 metres - are currently in St Barths for three days of intense racing action.
What makes the race so special this year is the coming together of six J Class sailing yachts to race for line honours in their own class – something that hasn’t happened since the 1930s.
Just some of the stars in the superyacht fleet out on the water this year include Royal Huisman’s Elfje and Spiip, Unfurled and Ganesha by Vitters, and Perini Navi’s contingent consisting of regatta regulars such as the Maltese Falcon, P2, and Perseus3.
Breed Media’s Jeff Brown is in the air again keeping a watchful eye over the race course this year and took these captivating sights during the first day’s racing. Stay up to date with all the latest results of the races, here.
