Recently a special event took place at the Amels shipyard in Vlissingen. The first cables were pulled on board of an Amels new building superyacht, construction no. 6501. This vessel is one of the new Limited Editions Amels 212 series: a superyacht measuring more than 65 meters, with seven state-rooms, five decks, and innumerable rooms, ranging from the captain’s suite to magnificent VIP Suites, a master suite extending over the entire width of the vessel, and a dramatic “sky lounge”, a 200 m2 sundeck with a hot-tub, wet-feet bar, jet-stream pool, sky gym and “dining for twelve”.
Representatives of the management of both Imtech and Amels conducted the cable-pulling ceremony. It was the symbolic start of the work of Imtech on board the yacht and the unique partnership between Imtech and Amels. Rob Luijendijk, Managing Director of Amels explains: “It is great to have two partners having the same strong focus on quality and cooperation. The right mentality and open communication are two factors which make the project a good and pleasant one.”
Imtech’s contribution to this yacht includes the complete electrical installation, switchboards, electrical panels, electrical cabling, fire detection system, technical and luxury lighting systems and fixtures and the alarm & monitoring system. For this, Imtech allocated its project team in the direct vicinity of the building site, which enhances quick communication and close cooperation with Amels. The Imtech 6501 and 6502 project team, along with a team from Amels, was present for the special occasion. Specifically, it involved pulling a bow-thruster cable (38 m cable, 114 m total, 174.99 kg total) from the bow-thruster space to the main switchboard. Cable pulling is not an easy job: it requires a great deal of care; and the gentlemen did the job perfectly. After the diligent work, it was time for a festive conclusion for both the IM&O and Amels project teams.
