Gamma Yachts has announced the delivery of a 22.10 metre superyacht to the world renowned Italian opera singer, Andrea Bocelli. Named Libertas, the yacht is the third in the Gamma 20 ‘mini’ superyacht series and has been designed entirely by Vripack.
One of the Gamma 20 series key features is the high degree of customisation available, making the series closer to that of a superyacht than any other vessel in this size range. Gamma Yachts CEO Guido Bonandrini comments, “The main elements of the Gamma 20 that are dictated to a client are the hull and superstructure shape; almost all other aspects can be adapted to the client’s tastes. The owner of Libertas took the customisation even further than previous Gamma 20 customers.”
In regards to the exterior, the decking comes in teak as standard, and Bocelli specified a table and sofa to be placed forward the wheelhouse to enjoy the views and ambiance. Another specification from the new owner was a custom-built diving board on the extended flybridge to jump from the uppermost point of the yacht. The hull is painted in a metallic electric blue.
The bow shape provides excellent fuel economy for the yacht, which has a range of 1,270nm on 5,500L of fuel, whilst also providing spacious accommodation for a crew of up to two. Elsewhere inside a fourth cabin has been added to the layout, making the total number of guests able to be accommodated nine. In the main salon, double-glazing insulates the interior, allowing a piano and recording studio equipment to be used without disruption. For the interior finishes, the owner chose matte oak panelling with natural oak floors.

Andrea Bocelli comments, “I love the way space has been arranged so that our large extended family can be together, enjoying closeness and intimacy, while at the same time respecting everybody’s privacy. Cosiness, warm materials, safety, low noise levels and comfort: these were my needs, and they have been fully met. I needed a solid, safe and comfortable boat, and I am very happy with my choice for Gamma 20.”
Libertas was constructed and delivered in just 10 months. A larger 26 metre model is also available in the series, the Gamma 24. Designs are still based on the principle features of the Gamma 20, but features accommodation for up to twelve guests.
