Claasen signs order for new Truly Classic 90

Claasen Shipyards has built many Truly Classic yachts, each of which was designed by Hoek Naval Architects. The yachts are renowned for their superior combination of classic lines with the very latest technologies. One of the most popular models is the Truly Classic 90ft, examples of which include Kealoha and Atalante, launched by Claasen Shipyards in 2008 and 2009 respectively. The yard is now proceeding with construction of its third Truly Classic 90, with the launching planned for the spring of 2016.

This exciting new Truly Classic 90 is unique in many ways. She will have an eye-catching black hull, with a dark-blue underwater ship and a white waterline adding to the distinguished and traditional look. The colour of the hull will be similar to that of the J-class Lionheart, also built by Claasen Shipyards.

Claasen Shipyards is known for having almost all yachtbuilding disciplines in-house. The aluminium hull of the yacht, for example, was built by the dedicated division in Makkum. The hull recently arrived at the yard in Zaandam where the outfitting process will commence. The spacious interior will be produced by the traditional timber division of Claasen Shipyards and feature a mahogany finish with a luxurious, stylish ambiance.

Sister yachts Kealoha and Atalante are known for their excellent view of the aft ship and the possibility to operate all sails from the cockpit. The cockpit also provides access to the aft deckhouse which accommodates the owner’s cabin, including a luxury bathroom. The aft ship also includes a single cabin. The owner’s cabin will have direct access to the amidships section of the yacht, which is home to the saloon, day head and navigation table. The saloon has great views all around, and is linked to the galley, dinette and three cabins fore, namely the guest cabin, captain’s cabin and crew cabin, each with its own bathroom.

The exterior will be finished with beautifully varnished teak details, as is standard on all yachts built by Claasen Shipyards. The keel-stepped mast will be equipped with four sets of crosstrees. The mast (35.60m) and boom (11.40m) are made of carbon and supplied by Hall Spars. The new Truly Classic 90 will include a mainsail, yankee, staysail, MPS/asymmetrical and storm jib.

In addition to the new Truly Classic 90, Claasen has several other yachts under construction, including a Truly Classic 126 and a brand-new 45-metre J-class.
