Organised by Ben Young, MD of Sunseeker Superyacht Management, the annual charity event Cogs 4 Cancer took place recently, where a grand total of €250,000 was raised in total.
Consisting of a gruelling six day bike ride across Italy and the South of France, the ride begun on the 5th October with a 156 km journey from Ancona to Forli. The next day saw participants cycle 142 km from Forli to Empoli, then a further 146 km from Empoli to La Spezia. Day four involved a further 134 km from La Spezia to Arenzano, then 123 km from Arenzano to San Remo, and finally, an 81 km tribute ride from San Remo to Antibes.
The conclusion of the event and the impressive amount of money raised was celebrated on the 11th October with a party at The Royal Beach Antibes, featuring DJ Shaun Hughes who cycled from Ibiza to take part.
Organiser Ben Young comments, “Last year we raised €114,000 euros. This year we have smashed €250,000 euros! This event has galvanised a fractious industry and given a real focus for charity in the South of France - we have had some rather A-List celebrity support, too.”
