First look onboard sailing yacht Elfje

After her discreet launch last year, Royal Huisman have now shared the first images of the one-of-a-kind super ketch Elfje. Designed by Hoek Design and with interior styling by Redman Whiteley Dixon, she was created to be aesthetically pleasing from every angle, while also liviing up to her sailing performance repertoire.

Dubbed a NextGen ketch by the team at Royal Huisman, Elfje’s design brief was to build an innovative luxury sail yacht that will remain ahead of its time well into the future. Energy efficiency, sustainability and maximised innovation were all terms used by the owner to describe his vision with Elfje. Elfje’s large and comfortable external social areas have become synonymous with the yacht, such as the main cockpit’s two large seating areas that provide a dining experience for 8 guests. The aft cockpit is another such example, located directly outside the owner’s cabin.

The yacht also features a side bathing platform, where guests have direct access to the water using the swim ladder, and can also disembark from here to shore on the 5.8m tender.

Redman Whiteley Dixon were asked to pay careful attention to the design of the interior, and where possible, to introduce renewable resources into the living areas onboard. Another request by the owner was an overall relaxed atmosphere where natural elements could create a low key feel when living on Elfje, yet with a hint of tradition also present.
