Having arrived at the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard in July this year, the 67-metre Amels superyacht Maria (ex Aquarius) has been spotted conducting sea trials over the past week following a major rebuild project at the German shipyard. Maria now features a new enclosed observatory lounge on the sundeck where there once was no structure apart from the mast.
Maria was built by Amels and launched in 2007 as My Shanti, whose interior and exterior areas were created by Terence Disdale Design. The yacht first changed hands in 2009 and was subsequently rechristened Aquarius – a name under which she cruised until last year when she was passed on to a new owner once again. Her previous owner recently took delivery of his new yacht, a 92-metre Feadship by the same name.
Visible for the first time in the background of these images is Abeking & Rasmussen’s 74-metre hull 6502. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018, one year after the launch of the 98.5-metre project that is due for launch soon. Yachtspotter, DrDuu, was on site to capture the action.
