Hull Vane wins Maritime Innovation Award

Each year the Dutch Maritime Awards seek out the most innovative product within the maritime industry in the Netherlands. This year, the Maritime Innovation Award was awarded to Hull Vane; a hydrofoil designed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects that generates a lift force in the upward flow underneath the stern of the vessel, where the device is attached.

This is the second time Hull Vane has been nominated for the prize, but as the requirements for the award dictates the application to be proven at full scale, which was not yet the case in 2013, the award evaded them back then.

Since then the underwater device has been applied to three vessels with the 42m Heesen superyacht Alive being the first luxury yacht the Hull Vane has been applied to. The award will be on display at Hull Vane’s stand at the METS in Amsterdam, which starts on Tuesday 17th November 2015.
