Steel cutting is thus underway at Centraalstaal in Groningen, less than three months after signing of contracts! The steel will be delivered by Centraalstaal in the form of building kits for the individual construction sections. The building kits comprise all parts, no matter how small or how large necessary to build the yacht. The delivery of building kits is synchronized with the co-makers’ production capacity so that the completed 400 tonne structure will arrive at Icon Yachts facilities in Harlingen in September 2008.

Wim Koersvelt of Icon Yachts believes that this could be an industry record for a custom yacht – albeit based on a predetermined platform. This third Icon 62 has an exterior styled by Tim Heywood, the first two being by Redman Whiteley Dixon.
