Turkish superyacht builder Proteksan Turquoise has been sold. A majority share of the yard now belongs to the owner of Oceanco, Mohammed Al Barwani, a private investor, who is based in the Sultanate of Oman.
SYT has been aware of the pending change of ownership to the owner of Oceanco for several months now, and last month we asked Proteksan CEO Mehmet Karabeyoglu, to comment on the matter, however, at that stage, all mr. Karabeyoglu could comment was "Nothing is done yet". The deal has now come through, and the Turkish yard is now in hands of Mohammed Al Barwani.
Barwani has interests in oil, gas, manufacturing, and minerals in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific through MB Holding Company LLC as well as investments in various other diversified assets.
We have asked Proteksan to comment on the sale, and we will publish an update as soon as we receive more news.
