Palladium supplies monitoring, alarm and entertainment systems for M/Y Renegade

Palladium Technologies has won a contract to retrofit its SiMON monitoring and alarm system on the 42-meter (140-foot) megayacht, MY Renegade.

Designed by naval architect, Allan Dowd, the yacht was originally constructed in 1992 in Brisbane, Australia for the owner of Lloyd’s Ships Holdings. She features teak decks as well as an aluminum hull and superstructure and is currently being overhauled at MB92 Shipyard in Barcelona, Spain.

The SiMON system for MY Renegade will monitor more than 300 sensor points, including interfaces to the MTU engines, Atlas Power Management System and sensors on the generators, batteries and tanks. Monitoring stations are being installed in the wheelhouse, engine room, engineers’ cabin and crew lounge, with remote alarm panels in the captain’s stateroom, chief engineer’s stateroom and crew lounge. The system also provides wireless interface to remote pagers. The display unit at the helm will include Palladium’s innovative panel-mount 50-millimeter trackball with visual and audible alarm notification. The trackball glows green, yellow or red to indicate current alarm status. Unique features of the Renegade SiMON installation include automated control of the ship’s horn and windshield wipers, as well as soft-switch controls for steering pumps, stabilizer control, steering control, engine and generator start/stop, bilge and fire pumps, bow thruster and panel dimming, and matrix switches for the Extron video switcher.

Palladium is also supplying the Lantic entertainment and cabin control systems for the yacht. Lantic’s unique table-top universal wireless remote device provides control over all functions, including video and audio on demand, access to the centralized library of DVDs and CDs, satellite TV, Internet access, cabin air conditioning, window curtains/blinds and steward call. The ergonomic tabletop control unit utilizes intuitive, easy-to-learn functionality.
