Royal Huisman: Huisfit gaining ground

Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman has entered an agreement with German ship service, Emden Dockyard, for the exclusive use of its deep water facilities in Emden. The agreement will allow Huisfit, the specialised refit division of the shipyard, access to over 300,000 square metres of facilities including dry docks, covered refit facilities, and dedicated support services on the ground.

This development will allow Huisfit to cater to yacht ‘of almost unlimited size’ due to the sheer scale of the facilities now at their disposal. The dockyard features, amongst many other facilities, a covered hall measuring 118 metres in length, spans 22 metres across, and reaches a height of 22 metres for a total workspace of 2,596 square metres.

Emden Dockyard is located roughly 200 kilometres from Royal Huisman’s established facilities in Vollenhove, and will be easily reachable by ground or air for project management teams who are to make use of Huisfit’s new services across the border.
