Royal Huisman is delighted to announce that yard no. 393, which now goes by the delightful name of Wisp, has been launched and her carbon composite Rondal mast stepped in the seaport of Harlingen on Holland’s northern coast.
From her raked bow and elegant sheer line to her cutter rig and efficient sail handling systems, the 48m (156ft) classic sloop is a fine example of revival naval architecture by Hoek Design. The owner’s brief was for a boat that would perform well without excessive heel, hence her relatively beamy hull and spoon bow for a more gentle ride. With a magnificent stained oak and wenge interior by Rhoades Young that takes full advantage of the generous hull volume to create voluminous salons, a spacious full beam-master suite and extensive accommodation for both guests and crew, the yacht fulfils all her owner’s criteria for a comfortable cruising yacht that may also indulge in a little ‘gentleman’s racing.’

Wisp ‘s sea trails and further crew training will take place in the next weeks prior to delivery to her owner later this spring. In the meantime, Royal Huisman’s construction and Huisfit halls are focused on various highly distinctive projects, including three new build yachts ranging in size from just under 40m up to 52m in length overall.
