Sunseeker's new flagship superyacht signals landmark shift in British Shipbuilding

Sunseeker’s new 37M Tri Deck Yacht is the largest and most ambitious build in the company’s 40-plus-year-history. The new 37M is the largest semi-custom production motoryacht ever to be built in the UK at just under 124 feet and 200 tonnes. This latest development by Sunseeker underlines the company’s position as the world’s largest privately-owned yacht builder and the largest producer of motoryachts over 80 feet, and highlights the resurgence of British shipbuilding with new shipyard facilities and an increased workforce.

Commenting on the company’s seamless ability to build award-winning craft over 100 feet, managing director Robert Braithwaite MBE stated: ‘No other manufacturer in this country is capable of building yachts of this size and type. Over the years Sunseeker has assembled a team of experts well versed in the creation and production of large, luxury superyachts that as an option can be built to meet full MCA compliance and RINA commercial. Right now, the talents of our naval architects and designers are among the best in the world.’

Having grown successfully in an ever increasing competitive market Sunseeker is renowned as one of the leading brands in the world for the design and production of luxury motoryachts. The 37M Yacht has been designed following an extensive research and development programme and is the first of a new range of exotic yachts to be designed and built by Sunseeker’s Yacht Division. In addition to a further 5 orders placed for the 37M, a 34M Yacht and a 30M Yacht under development will form part of the new range.

This latest development to the Sunseeker Yacht range along with new dedicated shipbuilding facilities at Poole in the UK enables Sunseeker to compete comfortably with the major one-off shipyards in Germany, Holland, Italy and elsewhere.

Built for an expanding global market and increased demand for unsurpassed luxury and stylish accommodation suitable for both private and charter use, the new 37M Yacht combines the latest high-tech construction techniques and materials, along with the integration of the most up-to-date systems. As expected in the Superyacht market, the 37M offers strong blue-water credentials and owners have the ability to fully personalise their boats to their individual requirements.

The Sunseeker 37M Yacht will be officially launched at the London International Boat Show on Friday 5th January 2007
