Superyacht of the Week: Amels’ amazing Astra

Amels’ Limited Editions 180 line can truly be considered as one of the most successful ranges out on the water today. Over 20 of their beautifully crafted Limited Editions vessels currently sail our seas, many of which have covered enough mileage to circumnavigate the globe several times. The lovely Astra forms part of this illustrious fleet of Dutch pioneers and has proven in her own way the value yachts in this successful range can offer its owners.

Launched in 2014, Astra is 55 metres of pure Dutch craftsmanship, expertly drawn by the hand of renowned British designer Tim Heywood. Laura Sessa was drafted to decorate Astra’s interior spaces with a touch of class and finesse. Her well proven and highly engineered platform means guests can look forward to a stable, comfortable and safe experience on board, whatever the weather.

The outdoor fun starts on the sundeck where guests are treated to panoramic views from the comfort of the Jacuzzi placed forward on this deck. Ample sun longing space can be found scattered across the sundeck with a central dining/lounge area that can be isolated from the elements when the wind picks up.

Two further aft facing decks allow guests to spread out across Astra’s exterior, and finding your own corner to relax in will not prove difficult. The outdoor areas are just as well equipped to host larger parties of family members and friends, and present the ideal entertaining venue.

Up forward, just ahead of the wheelhouse, one finds two intimate forward facing settees that form the perfect spot to escape after a day out in the sun, or simply to enjoy a laid back sundowner on with your guests while witnessing the sun slowly disappearing under the bow.

Inside, Astra is a classical affair with a touch of playfulness and zest. Chunky furnishings create a homely feel on board yet spaces are kept light enough to enjoy on a daily basis. Astra’s layout must be one of her strengths with spaces carefully planned to offer the maximum space available while leaving enough room for crew to practically function and tend to guests in the most efficient way possible.
